Leave Napoli, Kvaratskhelia Say Farewell

JAKARTA - Winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will leave Napoli to join Paris Saint-Germain. He has also said goodbye via social media.

Napoli coach Antonio Conte has stated that Kvaratskhelia is about to leave. "It's hard for me, but it's time to say goodbye," Kvaratskhelia said in a video on her Instagram account quoted by Football Italia.

In the video, Kvaratskhelia stands on a balcony facing the coast in Naples. He also thanked the club and supporters for the togetherness since joining the real Georgia club, Dinamo Batumi, in 2022.

"I spend an incredible time here. We share memories together and experience an emotional experience. Naples is my home. This is what makes me really grateful to everyone in this city," said Kvaratskhelia.

Even though he was brought in from a club in Georgia, Kvaratskhelia immediately won success in Serie A. In his debut, he immediately brought Napoli to the Scudetto for the 2022/23 season.

This is the first time since 33 years ago Napoli won the Serie A title. Not only that, Kvaratskhelia was also selected as the league's best player after scoring 12 goals and 23 assists for 34 matches.

"Naples is a city of football. A city that lives with football. And, I am happy to be a part of great history here," he said again.

"The journey we went on together I never forget. I remember my first goal and I never forget it. Every time I stepped first on the pitch, you felt such extraordinary emotions. A very special moment, both when we played at home and away," he said.

Kvaratskhelia said she studied a lot during her three years at Napoli. He admits that it is growing. But the 23-year-old said it was time for him to leave the Partenopei.

There was no mention of the reason for the departure of the player whose contract only expires in 2027. However, Kvaratskhelia promised to convey the reasons why she decided to leave Napoli.

"I learned a lot here, both on and off the field. I grew up as a person and a player. I also thank everyone at the club, coaches and assistants, teammates and fans," he said.

"Now, it's time for me to say goodbye. But you stay in my heart and I hope that one day we will meet again because one day I will tell the truth," he said.

The video of Kvaratskhelia raises differences of opinion among supporters. Some were disappointed and admitted to being frustrated by the departure of Kvaratskhelia. But some welcomed it positively and "forgivated" it.

Kvaratskhelia itself is actually targeted by Liverpool and PSG. However, the elite Ligue 1 French club is expected to bring Kvaratskhelia.

Although there was no explanation, Kvaratskhelia chose to leave because she received good offers from PSG and Liverpool. At least his salary has increased many times compared to in Napoli.

Ironic because Kvaratskhelia, who is a star player in Napoli, actually gets a very low salary. How not, he received a salary of 1.5 million euros per year. The salary is not much different from what he received at Dinamo Batumi.

Even Kvaratskhelia's salary is far below new players like Scott McTominay. Especially with Romelu Lukaku who immediately became the player with the highest salary at the club.

On the other hand, at PSG who recruited him for 70 million euros, he would give a high salary. Kvaratskhelia is said to receive a salary of 9 million euros or approximately 151 billion rupiahs annually. This does not include bonuses prepared by the club.
