BI Reveals Manufacturing Index In The Fourth Quarter Of 2024 Stays Guarded
JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) noted that the performance of the Industrial Processing Field (LU) in the fourth quarter of 2024 was maintained and in the expansion phase. This is reflected in the Prompt Manufacturing Index of Bank Indonesia (PMI-BI) in the fourth quarter of 2024 of 51.58 percent.
Executive Director of the BI Communication Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, said that based on the constituent components, the majority of the components are in the expansion phase, namely the Supply Volume of finished goods, Total Order Volume, Production Volume, and Input Order Receipt.
"Based on Subfield Business (Sub-LU), most of the Sub-LUs are in the expansion phase and support PMI-BI performance, with the highest index in Furniture Industry, followed by the Machinery and Equipment Industry, as well as the Skin, Skin and Footwear Industry," he said in his statement, Friday, January 17.
Denny conveyed that this development was in line with the results of the Bank Indonesia Business Activity Survey (SKDU) which indicated that the performance of the LU Processing Industry activities continued to grow with a weighted net balance (SBT) value of 0.93 percent.
Denny said that in the first quarter of 2025, the performance of the LU Processing Industry is predicted to increase and be in the expansion phase as reflected in PMI-BI by 51.97 percent.

As for the components of its formation, the majority of components are predicted to be in the expansion phase with the highest index in the finished goods supply volume component, Total Order Volume, Production Volume, and Request for Input Goods, while the components of the number of workers are predicted to improve even though they are still in the contraction phase.
"The majority of Sub-LUs are also predicted to be in the expansion phase, with the highest index in the Machinery and Equipment Industry, followed by the Paper and Goods Industry from Paper, Printing and Reproduction of Record Media and Furniture Industry," he said.
