Entangled in Debt from Mobile Banks, Housewife in Tuban Steals 7 Motorcycles

TUBAN - A housewife from Siding Village, Bancar District, Tuban Regency, East Java, had to deal with law enforcement officers after being exposed for stealing a motorbike in seven locations.

The woman with the initials S (44) was determined to steal the motorbike because she was burdened with debt that was continuously being collected by a mobile bank.

Bancar Police Chief AKP Darwanto revealed that the perpetrator stole the motorbike from seven crime scenes (TKP), five of which were in the Bancar area, one in Jatirogo District, and one in Sarang District, Rembang Regency, on Thursday, January 16.

"The perpetrator stole the motorbike with the key still attached. Her modus operandi was to target parked vehicles when mothers were taking their children to study the Koran at the TPQ (Al-Quran Education Center) after the Maghrib prayer.

When the situation was deemed safe, she immediately carried out her action," said AKP Darwanto in a press conference in the yard of the Tuban Police Headquarters.

He added that the perpetrator was successfully arrested at his house in Banjarejo Village, Bancar District, Tuban Regency, on Wednesday (15/1). After successfully stealing the motorbike, the perpetrator immediately pawned the vehicle in the Bulu area. So far, the police have managed to secure six motorbikes as evidence.

"The perpetrator is a housewife who acted alone. She stole the motorbike because she was often asked to pay her debt to the mobile bank. Currently, we have detained the perpetrator to be held accountable for her actions," continued the Police Chief.
