Dozens Of North Kalimantan Police Personnel Trained By SAR, Walking Dozens Of Kilometers

TANJUNG SELOR - As many as 70 personnel from the Samapta Directorate of the North Kalimantan Police (Kaltara) participated in search and rescue training (SAR) at Tanah Kuning Beach, Tanjung Palas Timur District, Bulungan Regency.

Director of Samapta Polda Kaltara, Kombes Joko Heri Purwono said this exercise is to increase preparedness for natural disasters as well as prove a high commitment in increasing the capacity of aid when natural disasters occur.

"70 personnel participated in training for two days which began with physical training walking 30 km (kilometers) to the location of Mudani Tanah Kuning Beach," said Kombes Joko Heri Purwono, Thursday, January 16.

"This is a form of physical training for public security aimed at honing the physical capabilities of SAR personnel in preparation for emergency situations," he added.

During other material exercises, it was given in the form of practical natural disaster management. This is a requirement to become a SAR personnel.

"The ability to survive or survive, search techniques in SAR operations, implementation of emergency assistance, and technical evacuation in water areas are also provided by two coaches of medium-ranking officers and non-commissioned officers in this field," he said.

One Pama and 1 NCO, who have completed SAR courses at the Sabhara Porong Pusdik, East Java, led the exercise.

The activity of the Samapta Directorate is not only focused on developing SAR expertise but also emphasizes disaster preparedness.

"Armed with the knowledge and training that has been obtained, the personnel who take part in the Kaltara SAR training are expected to be the backbone in dealing with natural disasters that may occur as well as an extension of their hands to help the community in unexpected situations," he said.
