Palembang City Government Finds Inscription In Ledeng's Office

PALEMBANG - The Palembang City Government, South Sumatra, has again found the inscription of the fire office and will make it a new attraction for tourists.

Head of the Palembang City Tourism Office, Sulaiman Amin, confirmed this. This finding is a blessing and adds to the attraction for tourists to be able to find out the history of the Dutch-era buildings which are currently government offices.

"After we found the left side of the gate and now we have found the right side of the main entrance to the Palembang Mayor's Office," he said in Palembang, Antara, Thursday, January 16.

The inscription was discovered by the Cultural Heritage Expert Team, which was commanded by historian Kms Ari Panji.

"Yes, the Cultural Heritage Expert Team, commanded by historian Kms Ari Panji, estimates that it is on the right side of the inscription and it is true that after the cement cover was opened, there was an inscription on the inauguration of the office building in the Dutch era," he said.

According to him, the Palembang Mayor's office is indeed a building that has a history, as well as aesthetic beauty, but so that generations know the historical value and can also be used as a new tourist spot so that the idea arises from the Acting Mayor of Palembang.

Meanwhile, previously the Palembang City government had also found the inscription of the000 office on the left of the main entrance on Thursday, November 28, 2024.

According to him, the discovery was discovered by workers who are currently working on the renovation of the Palembang Mayor's office which is planned to be used as a historical museum for educational places.

"This discovery is a blessing in itself, we have prepared a replica of the inscription, but the original was found and became a value of its own history," he said.

The carving article shows that the office that is currently the Office of the Mayor of Palembang was founded in 1928. The age of the mayor's office is exactly 100 years old in 2028. The inscription also proves that the Mayor of Palembang was once held by the Dutch colonial nation, namely Ir RCAJ Le Cocq d Armandville.
