JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (BPP HIPMI) Mardani H Maming together with the 69 Foundation lent the Medina Hotel in Pagatan, Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan as a place for isolation and quarantine for COVID-19 patients.
For information, Hotel Medina is one of the best hotels in Tanah Bumbu Regency. The hotel, which stands on the coast of Pagatan Beach, has 33 rooms plus several cottages.
Mardani said the hotel would be lent as long as the local government needed it in its efforts to deal with Covid-19.
"We lend it as long as it is needed. Maybe up to three months," said Mardani, in a statement received by VOI, Tuesday, April 7.
Mardani's step to lend the hotel is a form of concern as well as concern for the outbreak of COVID-19 in Tanah Bumbu Regency. The former Regent of Tanah Bumbu has held a meeting with local government officials. The meeting was held at his private residence on Jalan Manggis, Batulicin.
The meeting was attended by members of the Indonesian Parliament Syafruddin H. Maming, Regent of Tanah Bumbu Sudian Noor, Chairman of the DPRD Tanah Bumbu Supiansyah, Kapolres Tanah Bumbu AKBP Sugianto Marweki, Regional Secretary Rooswandi Salem and the Regional Leadership Communication Forum. During the meeting, Mardani and a number of other officials appeared to be wearing masks and keeping their distance from each other.
Mardani continued, at this time the Medina Hotel was also in the process of preparing to be transformed into a place for isolation and quarantine for Covid-19 patients.
"This is being prepared immediately and quickly and follows the WHO standard in its SOP so that tomorrow or the day after tomorrow it can be used," he said.
In the same place, the Chief Executive of the Management of COVID-19 in Tanah Bumbu Regency, Rooswandi Salem, gave great appreciation to the General Chairperson of BPP HIPMI and the Haji Maming Foundation for being willing to lend the Medina Hotel.
"This is a very strategic assistance and is urgently needed by the government in dealing with COVID-19. We, on behalf of the local government and the community, would like to express our deepest gratitude," said Rooswandi Salem.
Rooswandi who also serves as the Sekda Tanah Bumbu said, every room in the hotel will be converted into a quarantine place for residents with the status of people under monitoring (ODP).
"This will be used for isolation or self-quarantine for people with ODP status until the 14-day isolation period is completed. If declared negative, they will be sent home," he said.
Not only that, Hotel Medina will also function as an independent isolation area for medical personnel who must be quarantined for 14 days after examining patients who have the potential to be exposed to the virus. Apart from the Medina Hotel, the Tanah Bumbu Regency Government has prepared a flats (rusun) on Mount Tinggi which will be used as isolation rooms.
"With this hotel assistance, it will certainly provide better service to the ODP. If they are asked to be isolated, of course we must provide the best facilities," concluded Rooswandi.
