Ukrainians use natural gas especially to heat houses and cook.
The country uses gas stored over the summer for use in winter, when daily production cannot cover consumption.
Ukraine's underground gas storage facility is located in the western part of the country, including in the Stryi region. Their role has increased since Kyiv refused to extend the gas transit agreement with Russia.
