JAKARTA - The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) is acting up again by burning the houses of tribal chiefs and various educational facilities in Dambet village, Beoga District, Puncak Regency, Papua, Saturday, April 17.

"It is true that there was an act of arson by the KKB but there were no casualties," said Beoga Police Chief, Ipda Ali Akbar to Antara when contacted.

The KKB burning incident was reported at around 09.30 WIT and burned down the houses of local residents who are also the head of the Ener Tinal tribe, and the teachers' housing.

In Beoga District, there is a Newangkawi Task Force - an amalgamation of army and police - which has been tasked with eradicating armed groups some time ago. This armed group has long acted with a pattern of spreading terror to citizens and state apparatus.

The burnt house of the chief of the Dambet tribe also functions as a kiosk or warung.

"Meanwhile, the Dambek Elementary School building did not have time to be sold out because the residents had driven and extinguished the fire so that only the door caught fire," he said.

He revealed that when they headed to the location that was burned, TNI and police forces were harassed by them with gunfire but there were no casualties. "The distance to Dambek village is about three kilometers to Beoga on foot," he said.
