Incident Of A Fight At Al Muqsit Mosque Puncak Bogor: Arab Tourists Ignore Hygiene Rules

BOGOR Cisarua Police Chief, Kompol Eddy Santosa, revealed the complete chronology of the fight incident between a tourist from Saudi Arabia and R alias Pak Jenggot (40), Al Muqsit, which occurred in the courtyard of the mosque in Tugu Utara Village, Cisarua District, Bogor Regency, on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at around 17.50 WIB.

The fight started when Mr. Jenggot was carrying out his routine of cleaning the mosque after the Asr prayer. As a marbut as well as a janitor, he is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and the condition of the mosque every day.

After finishing cleaning the inside of the mosque, Pak Jenggot continued his work coaching the terrace. While busy dancing, he was surprised to see a large man entering the terrace of the mosque without taking off his shoes.

In fact, at the entrance to the mosque there are already shoe racks and written warnings informing that the terrace is "a holy boundary."

Seeing this, Mr. Jenggot immediately reprimanded the man and asked him to take off his shoes according to the rules in force at the mosque. He even showed the shoe racks provided and a warning at the entrance.

However, the Arab tourist ignored the reprimand and continued to walk into the mosque terrace with the shoes he was wearing.

"There is an inscription on the holy boundary and at the door a shoe rack is provided. Well, this foreigner does not heed it," said Eddy when confirmed.

Pak Jenggot then gave a second warning, but was again ignored. The tourists still refused to take off their shoes, even though the mosque rules were clear.

Tensions escalated, until finally there was a fight between the two. Not accepting being reprimanded, the Arab tourist pushed Mr. Jenggot, who was holding a seller.

It didn't stop there, the big man threw a kick at Mr. Jenggot, who then hit back at the kick. Actions against each other kick ensued, and even both fell.

Fights were inevitable in the courtyard of the mosque. A number of men and congregants who were at the location immediately came to intervene, but due to the increasingly heated situation, the fighting continued until several residents who tried to intervene also fell.

The Head of Cisarua Police, Eddy Santosa, confirmed that Mr. Jenggot chose not to take this matter to court.

Meanwhile, the Arabic tourists involved were not examined further, and their identities were unknown. After the incident, the Arab tourist left the location.

"Mr. Jenggot stated that he will not make a report to the police and will not continue this matter to the legal table, and accept it gracefully," said Eddy.
