JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) through the Directorate General of Human Settlements has completed the construction of the Bano Star Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) in West Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. The project cost Rp83.9 billion.
Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti said that meeting the needs of drinking water for the community is very important in addition to sanitation, especially to support the handling of stunting or growth disorders in toddlers due to lack of clean water and sanitation.
"The construction of the Bintang Bano SPAM not only utilizes the infrastructure that has been built by the Ministry of Public Works, but also increases access to safe drinking water, especially for people in the West Sumbawa region," Diana said in a written statement, quoted Wednesday, January 15.
The construction of this water infrastructure has been carried out in stages since November 2022, including a production and distribution unit with an investment value of IDR 83.9 billion.
The production unit's work is in the form of the construction of a 100 liter water processing installation (IPA) per second and a reservoir with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters. In addition to the production unit, a distribution unit was also built in the form of a piping network as well as supporting and landscape buildings.
