JAKARTA - The nephew of the Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, namely Gugum Ridho Putra was elected as Chairman of the Crescent Star Party (PBB) for the period 2025-2030.
The election of Gugum Ridho Putra was based on the election process at the VIth Congress which was held on January 13-15, 2025 in Bali.
"Decided, stipulated, ratified Gugum Ridho Putra's brother as General Chair of the Central Leadership Council of the Crescent Star Party for the period 2025-2030," said Secretary of the Chair of the Session, Azhar, Wednesday, January 15.
During the congress, Gugum Ridho Putra competed with Afriansyah Noor, who is a former UN Secretary General.
Of the 532 valid votes, Gugum won 398 votes. Meanwhile, Afriansyah Noor won 134 votes.
Gugum is known to have conveyed the reason for advancing in the election of the general chairman, namely the decline in party existence. So, there needs to be a new breakthrough to improve it.
The Star Moon Party must continue to be the main exponent in voicing Islamic values that bring grace to the universe. The existence of the United Nations must reflect the spirit of strong Indonesianness and provide solutions to the challenges of the times," he said.
Gugum also reminded that after 26 years of existence since the reform era, the United Nations faces new challenges.
