Five Gangsters Of Pregnant Women Undergo Trial At Denpasar District Court
Five defendants in the case of beating pregnant women named Dian Permatasari underwent their first trial at the Denpasar District Court, Bali.
The defendants were named Norkalam (57), Muri'a (53) Samsul Arifin (43), Badriyah (36), and Sari Murtini (26).
The public prosecutor (JPU) of the Badung District Attorney I Gusti Ngurah Agung Try Parameswara Prawilomendakwa, the five of them jointly carried out the criminal act of beating as regulated and threatened with crime in Article 170 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code (KUHP).
The prosecutor explained that the beating of pregnant women who are animal lover activists occurred on Tuesday (25-7-2024) at around 15.30 WITA when witness Dian Permatasari was at his rented house, Perum Puri Gading Jalan Kutilang Blok A 3 No.50 Jimbaran, South Kuta District, Badung Regency.
After completing his householdwork, the witness/victim then fed the stray dogs who came to his house or those around the house.
At that time, the defendants who had just arrived from Madura heard witness Dian Permatasari saying that he did not get sacrificial meat from the defendants, but had already obtained it from other people.
Hearing this, the defendants Norkalam and Sari Murtini did not accept and were involved in the debate.
A few moments later witness Dian Permatasari continued his work while decorating the floor.
As reported by ANTARA, the witness saw that the defendant Badriyah alias Bet threw a package of rice wrapped in plastic to the witness and the witness tried to fend off him. The defendant Norkalam hit the witness with his hand followed by the defendants Samsul Arifin and Sharia Murtini.
Likewise, the defendants Muri'a and Badriyah participated in the violence against witness Dian Permatasari. Apart from using hands and feet, the witness was also beaten with a helmet. Dian Permatasari's finger was also injured as a result of being bitten by the defendant Sari Murtini.
Based on the visum et repertum on June 28, 2024 from Surya Husadha Nusa Dua Hospital which was signed by dr. Kadek Indah Cahyani Girtha Putri got the results, namely on the head, 4 centimeters from the back mid-line, there was a lump measuring about 4 x 4 centimeters.
"On the upper right lip of the inside, 1 centimeter from the mid-front line, there are bruises of purplish red with a size of 1 x 1 centimeter," said the prosecutor.
In addition, there are wounds on the neck, lower arms of the left and right hands, chest, back, fingers, and thighs.
"In conclusion, an examination of the victim, female, aged 39 years, is an Indonesian citizen. Based on the results of the external examination and identification, the bruises and abrasions were obtained due to blunt force violence," said the prosecutor before the panel of judges.
When the incident was reported to the South Kuta Police, the defendants were not detained at the detention center, but were detained in the City.
Likewise, when transferred to the Badung District Attorney, the defendants were city prisoners from December 18 to January 6, 2025.
When tried at the Denpasar District Court, the judge also did not detain the defendants for humanitarian reasons the defendants were the backbone of the family.
The witness who is a victim, Dian Permatasari also expressed her heart when testifying before the panel of judges that she asked the panel of judges to detain the defendants because she felt intimidated since the case occurred.
However, the judge decided not to detain the defendants on the grounds that they would not obstruct the trial.
