Viral Luxury Mansion Still Utuh From Los Angeles Fire, Owner Reveals Secrets
JAKARTA - A luxury mansion worth nearly 9 million US dollars or Rp. 146 billion inwaslway, Los Angeles went viral. This is because this house has mysteriously survived the intense fires that hit Los Angeles.
In the midst of the charred rubble of the surrounding houses, this three-story mansion stands sturdy and triggers the curiosity of many people. The owner of the house, David Steiner, said he was surprised to learn that his house remained intact after the smoke from the fire subsided.
"It's a miracle, the magic never stops," Steiner, a retired waste management executive, was quoted by VOI from the New York Post page on Monday, January 13, 2025.
Steiner thought his house was destroyed when a local contractor sent a video showing fire and smoke eating at the surrounding houses.
"The contractor said, 'It looks like your house caught fire too,'" he recalls.
However, not long after, Steiner began receiving shocking news. He was shown a photo of his three-story white house standing in the middle of the charred rubble of the surrounding multibillion dollar property.
"People contacted me and said, 'Your house is on the news.' My wife sent a message that read, 'The last house that survived,' and it made me smile in the middle of a bad situation.
The 64-year-old believes that the construction of his sturdy house is the main factor of rescue. The house was built with tucco and stone materials, equipped with a fire-resistant roof, as well as a foundation embedded up to 50 feet into the base rock to withstand large wave shocks.

"I never imagined forest fires could reach the Pacific Coast Highway and jump here. I thought this house was designed to survive the earthquake, but it was also resistant to fires," he said.
In addition to the sturdy construction of houses, more than 20 firefighters fought for 12 hours to protect the building. Although grateful, Steiner still viewed this situation wisely.
"This is not a fun time. But it's just property, not life. I can replace it," he said.
Steiner also expressed his sympathy for those who lost their homes.
"My heart is for those who have lost their homes. I am lucky because this is not our family home and there are no Goods in it," he said.
Even though his house was safe, Steiner suspected there was damage from smoke. He has insurance, but only 50% of it is covered by forest fires.
Steiner added that his house has a unique design that resembles a cruise ship.
"The hearse carriage looks like the ship's trail, and the back balcony is like the balcony of a cruise ship. It feels like it's on the water." he explained.
With a sturdy design and extraordinary luck, Steiner's house is now a symbol of hope amid the tragedy of the fire that hit Los Angeles.
