Jeep Will Stop Selling Grand Cherokee In Europe, Replaced By Wagoneer S

JAKARTA - A premium automotive brand from the United States (US), Jeep confirmed it would stop selling Grand Cherokee in Europe this year.

Launching from Autocar, Monday, January 13, this step must be taken by the brand in order to provide space for its newest EV, Wagoneer S, which will be present on the blue continent by the end of this year. The car has a similar size as Grand Cherokee.

Thus, the Wagoneer S will co-exist with another EV named Avengers which is smaller in size. In addition, this large SUV is expected to contribute better to the CO2 and EV sales targets because everything is all electricity.

Jeep will also take similar steps on the Recon EV which will soon replace Wrangler in the market. This is done because both are models devoted to offroad 4x4 with the same dose.

"It hasn't been decided yet, but Recon will be a strong alternative to Wrangler," said Eric Laforge, Head of Jeep Brand Europe.

The presence of Jeep Wagoneer S marks a new step for brands in adventure on the transition to complete electrification.

Jeep Wagoneer S was built on the latest platform developed by Stellantis, STLA Large. This car is planned to enter the premium electric vehicle market.

Talking about its performance, Jeep Wagoneer S is equipped with a powerful electric motor of up to 600 dk and an instant torque of 800 Nm. Thus, this car can run from 0 to 100 km/hour in 3.4 seconds.

Built on the STLA Large platform, the SUV also has a 100 kWh battery so it can run 482 km in single charge. This car charges efficiently from 20 to 80 percent in just 23 minutes using a DC fast charger.
