Mendikdasmen Soal Siswa SD Dihukum Guru Belajar Di Lantai: Jangan Usakan Cara-cara Oppositor

JAKARTA - Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti reminded all schools in the country not to use methods that are contrary to the values of education in disciplinary enforcement.

"In the future, we ask that schools, both public and private, do not use methods related to discipline, both academic discipline and administrative discipline, which are contrary to the values of education," said Mu'ti as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, January 13.

Mu'ti emphasized that the value of education shows that education must be done with noble actions, both for students, teachers, and knowledge.

"This education must be a process that glorifys, glorifies students, glorifies teachers and glorifies knowledge," he said.

This was conveyed by Mu'ti in response to a viral video recording on social media about a child being sentenced to sit on the floor for not paying for a tuition fee in Medan, North Sumatra.

According to him, such a method does not reflect the value of education that should glorify students. Previously, it was known that M (10), a 4th grade student at a private elementary school in Medan City, had to serve a sentence by sitting on the floor for two days on January 6' 7 2025 during teaching and learning activities. M sits on the floor from 08.00 to 13.00 WIB.

M was convicted by his homeroom teacher, a teacher with the initials H, for being in arrears for three months, namely October to December 2024.

According to Mu'ti, based on information she obtained from the North Sumatra Education Quality Guarantee Center, the problems have been resolved by related parties.

"The problem is considered resolved and there is already a way out that can be accepted by both parties," he said.

Mu'ti said the problem occurred because of the miscommunication between teachers in the classroom and foundation policies.

"The child has no problem with the teacher anymore, even the teacher is actually the child's idol teacher," he said.
