Cartenz Peace: KKB Member Askel Mabel Shoots Dead 2 Yalimo Residents Papua Mountains
JAKARTA - Head of Operations for the Cartenz Peace Task Force Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani said the perpetrators of the shooting and mistreatment of two people in Yalimo, Papua Mountains, were the armed criminal group (KKB) led by Askel Mabel.
From reports received by the Cartenz Peace Task Force, it was revealed that Askel Mabel and his group carried out shootings and mistreatment that killed two civilians on Wednesday, January 8.
"Currently, the Cartenz Peace Task Force team is still searching for Askel Mabel, a former member of the Yalimo Police," said Faizal Rahmadani, confirmed in Jayapura, Monday, January 13, which was confiscated by Antara.
He said two civilians who were victims of the shooting named Eliap and Abineno Tadona who worked as carpenters had been buried in his hometown in South Sulawesi.
They were known to be victims after residents reported hearing gunshots and two victims were found in two different locations in Hobakma Village, Yalimo Regency.
Askel Mabel, who had been fired from the National Police, was previously reported to have taken away four AK 47 firearms from the Yalimo Police and their ammunition.
"Currently, the person concerned is on the DPO (wanted list) and is the target of the law enforcement team of the Cartenz Peace Task Force," said Faizal Rahmadani, who is also the Deputy Chief of the Papua Regional Police.
