Heavy rain accompanied by lightning with rainfall of more than 50 mm per hour is predicted to flush the cities of Tanjung Pinang, Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, Lampung, Bandung, Denpasar, Kupang, Tanjung Selor, Palangka Raya, Manado, Ternate.
The BMKG forecaster explained in detail that the even distribution of rain which also has the potential to cause extreme weather was triggered by a number of atmospheric dynamics in the area or around Indonesia.
In this case, the BMKG found the presence of Tropical Cyclone 97S Seeds in the Indian Ocean southwest of Banten with a maximum wind speed of 20 knots and air pressure of 1,002 hPa.
Suspected areas of tropical disturbance were also found in the southern waters of West Nusa Tenggara with a maximum wind speed of 15 knots and a minimum air pressure of 1,005 hPa.
Wind convergence from the Indian Ocean south of Java - Sawu Sea and cyclonic circulation is predicted to be elongated from the waters in the southwest Indian Ocean of Aceh and northern Papua.
"Combination of atmospheric dynamics is able to increase the growth of rainy clouds as well as high sea waves, potentially triggering extreme weather in most parts of Indonesia," he said.
BMKG appealed to the public to be aware of the potential for tidal flooding on the coasts of the Riau Islands, West Sumatra, Jambi, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, Banten, Jakarta, Central Java, West Nusa Tenggara, South Kalimantan, Maluku and North Maluku.
For all shipping activities, ships are also asked to be aware of the potential for high sea waves which are estimated to reach 4-6 meters due to an increase in wind speed of 25 knots in the Andaman Sea, North Sea of Aceh, South China Sea, North Malacca Strait.
