Apple Will Redesign Magic Mouse Next Year: What Can Be Expected?
JAKARTA After more than fifteen years, Apple has finally decided to redesign the Magic Mouse, which was first introduced in 2009. In the mouse's history, the design remains mostly the same, unless the change from AA battery to Lightning in 2015, and then from Lightning to USB-C in 2024. However, Apple now plans to update the Magic Mouse design, with some upcoming changes.
One of the biggest criticisms of Magic Mouse is the placement of a charging port. Charging ports are at the bottom of the mouse, which means users can't use them while charging. Although some people defend this design on the grounds that the bottom of the charging is better for battery health, many also feel that this is quite a hassle, especially because of the charging process that has to be done every six weeks.
According to a report from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is working on a new design to address the issue. With this new design, Magic Mouse charging is expected to no longer be a problem, and it is likely that the charging port will be moved to a more practical location, allowing users to keep using the mouse while charging.
In addition, Apple is also focusing on improving the ergonomic Magic Mouse. Although there are no definite details regarding the new shape and design of this mouse, Apple is reportedly working to create a more convenient mouse to use, which will likely have a design more similar to the MX Master of Logitech, which is known for the conveniences and additional features it offers. With the growing popularity of the use of touchscreens, voice commands, and hand movements in today's computing world, Apple plans to adapt Magic Mouse to be more relevant to today's users' needs.

The MX Master mouse from Logitech is often the choice of many Mac users thanks to its ergonomic convenience, despite losing some of the multi-touch features that exist in the Magic Mouse. With this new design, Apple is expected to be able to give the best of both worlds, namely ergonomic comfort and multi-touch features that have become the hallmark of Magic Mouse.
However, although the development of this new Magic Mouse has already begun, reports suggest that this device may only be released in 2026. Gurman mentioned that users do not need to expect releases within the next 12 to 18 months. Apple is also working on a MacBook Pro with an OLED screen planned for release in 2026, so it is likely that the new Magic Mouse and MacBook Pro will be launched simultaneously.
With careful planning and the latest innovations, Apple hopes to bring a more modern, comfortable, and more relevant Magic Mouse to today's technological developments.
