Denying Conflict With Prabowo, Megawati Is Said To Open The Door For Reconciliation
Chairman of the PDI-P, Megawati Soekarnoputri, has denied the issue of conflict or hostility with the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, who is also the General Chair of the Gerindra Party.
"Media thinks, 'I'm with Mr. Prabowo, are you enemies?' No, really. However, I said (to Prabowo), 'Mas, we can do it, I'm ketum, you ketum. If you do that, see your subordinates done, what's it like?' As a ketum, our feelings must be the same," said Megawati in her speech at the 52nd PDIP Anniversary commemoration, Friday, January 10, 2025.
This statement was called by UIN political observer Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Zaki Mubarak as an effort to open the door to reconciliation between PDIP and the Prabowo Subianto government. Moreover, Megawati also openly offended the service and praised Prabowo in restoring Soekarno's good name.
Previously, Prabowo had also sent a positive signal by asking RK-Suswono to withdraw the lawsuit to Pramono and Rano. The goal is to cool the atmosphere. Don't let there be a feud with Mrs. Mega and PDIP. So, both parties welcome each other to give signs of improving relations," he said, Sunday, January 12, 2025.
In addition, in her speech Megawati also seemed to be entrusting a message so that PDIP cadres would not be disturbed by legal issues. In particular, Mega wants the alleged bribery case that dragged the PDIP Secretary General, Hasto Kristiyanto, to be 'assisted' by Prabowo.
"In internal PDIP itself, I believe there is a Jokowi factor behind the re-emergence of the Harun Masiku case that ensnared Hasto. This is not Prabowo's maneuver. So, Prabowo's impression is still good. Moreover, Prabowo also takes care of himself not to frontally attack Mrs. Mega and PDIP," added Zaki.

According to him, if Megawati and Prabowo's relationship is more intimate, it is not impossible that political cooperation between PDIP and the government will develop.
Because, politically, Prabowo needs PDIP which is the winning political party for the 2024 Legislative Election.
"From pragmatic political considerations, embracing PDIP as the biggest party provides Prabowo with long-term benefits. At least, there is a guarantee of strong support in parliament," concluded Zaki.
