JAKARTA - Ferri Yudhatama (26), a resident of Jati Bunder, Kebon Melati, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, was arrested by residents after being caught holding cellphones using machetes against three underage children with the initials ZA, AR and AD on Friday, January 10, 2025.

As a result of his actions, the lips of the perpetrators were created by the residents who were furious at his actions.

The perpetrator is unemployed who graduated from junior high school. Daily, the perpetrator works as a rough worker.

Tanah Abang Metro Police Chief, AKBP Aditya Sembiring said his party had received reports of victims related to extortion.

"The evidence was confiscated by a machete with a wooden handle belonging to the perpetrator and an Infinix cellphone which was suspected of being the result of a crime," said AKBP Aditya when confirmed, Friday, January 10, 2025.

The incident occurred on Jalan Kebon Pala III, Kebon Melati Village, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta.

The incident began when the three underage victims were playing online games in their residential alleys.

Suddenly they were approached by a man who was carrying a sharp machete and pointed it at the victim. The perpetrator then asked them to put their cellphone into the red plastic carried by the perpetrator.

The perpetrator also said "enter the cellphone ... enter the cellphone". But the victim just kept quiet and didn't answer.

"When the perpetrator pointed the machete, the AD victim managed to escape and took his cellphone. Then the victims ZA and AR when they were about to escape were intercepted by the perpetrator," he said.

The perpetrator then ordered ZA and AR to put their cellphones in a plastic bag that had been prepared by the perpetrators.

After the perpetrators managed to get ZA and AR's cellphones, the AD victim who managed to escape shouted at the perpetrator "Maaalliiinggg... Malinggg".

Then the perpetrator fled. But finally caught by residents who heard the victim's screams. The perpetrator was arrested in the Embankment area, Tanah Abang.

"In the pocket of the perpetrator, an infinitex brand cellphone was found belonging to victim AZ," he said.

Furthermore, the perpetrator and the evidence were brought to the Tanah Abang Metro Police for further investigation.

"As a result of the examination, the perpetrator admitted to committing his actions with his friend with the initials F who managed to escape," he said.

For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 368 of the Criminal Code and Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951.
