For The First Time, The Kaltara Police Chief Visited The Border At Kayan Apau
KAYAN - North Kalimantan Police Chief (Kaltara) Inspector General Hary Sudwijanto visited the Indonesia-Malaysia border area in the Kayan Apau area, precisely in Long Ampung Village, South Kayan District, Malinau Regency.
The Kapolda saw firsthand the condition of the border residents as well as expressed their appreciation to the people of Long Ampung who have maintained security and order even though they are in a very limited condition.
"We are here to ensure that people at the border also get the same attention regarding the safety and welfare of border residents," said the Kapolda, Friday, January 10.
"I also want to thank all the people who have created a safe and conducive security and social security situation in this border area," he continued.
The Kapolda also emphasized the importance of the role of the Police in serving and protecting people in all corners of the country, without exception in border areas.
"Not only in Long Ampung, the National Police will continue to pay special attention to the borders in Kaltara. In particular, to support the development of border areas as the frontline of the Republic of Indonesia (the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia)," said Inspector General Hary Sudwijanto.
Kapolda admits that Long Ampung Village at the Border still has limitations
Such as infrastructure and access to public services in the form of health and education facilities.
"Hopefully this border area can get serious attention from the central government and local governments," he said.
This visit was also used by the Kapolda to review the security situation in the Long Ampung area. He also gave directions to the local police to continue to improve services to the community, as well as strengthen synergies with the TNI and the community in maintaining security stability in border areas.
"We must continue to maintain the spirit of togetherness. Together we build the border to be at the forefront of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia which is safe, peaceful, and prosperous," said the Kapolda.
During his visit, the Kaltara Police Chief together with the Chairman of Bhayangkari for the Kaltara Region brought assistance in the form of basic necessities, clothes for children ranging from kindergarten to high school, as well as plant seeds to support community farming activities.
This assistance is expected to ease the burden on the people who have been living with limited economic access.
In addition, the group also provided free health services, which included simple laboratory examinations, consultations with doctors, administration of medicines, to examination of vital signs such as blood pressure and body temperature. It is hoped that this program will become very meaningful for people who have so far had limitations in getting health services.
One of the residents of Long Ampung, Maria (45), expressed her emotion and gratitude for the visit.
"We are very happy that the Kapolda can come to our place. This is the first time we have been visited by a leader at the Kapolda level. Hopefully this will be the beginning of more attention for the border area," said Maria.
The visit of the Kapolda and his entourage also received a warm welcome from local residents with traditional processions and traditional dances.
South Kayan sub-district head Hendrik Lencau said the majority of Dayak Kenyah communities in Long Ampung village were grateful for this historic visit.
"We feel proud and grateful for the visit of the Kapolda who first visited the border area in Kayan Aahu specifically in Long Ampung village," said Hendrik.
"The presence of the Kapolda and his entourage is a very big honor for us. This visit is proof that the people of Long Ampung still get attention from the government, especially the Police. In addition, this historic visit provides great motivation for us to continue to maintain the integrity and security of the border area, especially since this is the first time officials at the Kapolda level have visited our village," he added.
Hendrik said the presence of the Kapolda in the border area gave a new spirit for the community to maintain unity and cooperation for the progress of the village.
Long Ampung Village is one of the villages in the Kayan Apal area of Malinau Regency and is located in a mountainous area surrounded by tropical forests.
This village is directly adjacent to Sarawak, Malaysia. However, to reach this area, the journey can only be reached by air using pioneer planes. If by land it takes days with difficult terrain conditions. Demographically, the majority of the villagers are Dayak Kenyahnese people who live from agriculture, hunting, and utilizing forest products.
