JAKARTA - The beauty queen Magal Total Benejam was removed from her title as Miss Universe Argentina after making a series of controversial statements that sparked the jury's anger.
Reported by VOI from the Daily Mail page on Friday, January 10, 2025, this controversy began when this 30-year-old model conducted an interview on King Lucho's YouTube.
During the live broadcast, Benejam felt that the Miss Universe 2024 competition had indications of fraud, precisely after the victory of Danish woman, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig (21) in Mexico City in November 2024.
"When they announced Top 5, I saw the judges looking at each other in a strange way," said Benejam, quoted by VOI from the Daily Mail page on Friday, January 10, 2025.
"They started to look at each other as if saying, 'This is not our choice, this is not what I chose.' That's what it felt from outside, and at that time I said, 'Okay, it's already arranged'. It's always like that every year," he continued.
Benejam, which occupies the 12th position in the competition, is critical of the Miss Universe Organization's move to become more inclusive by removing the age limit for the 73rd event.

"I spoke to him several times, but in the last few days he decided to stop talking to me, for some reason," recalled Benejam.
"I think he's very nervous and focused on himself. In the last two days, I said to him, 'Hi, Jenny, how are you?' and he looked at me without answering," he continued.
Benejam also commented on the choice of clothing for the final night.
"I think it's entirely the organization's decision. I'm not sure he has many options here, because the style I saw during the competition was great," he said.
The Miss Universe organization announced the decision to remove the Benejam title as Miss Universe Argentina in a press statement released on January 2.
"Our values focus on celebrating diversity, promoting inclusion, and respecting all individuals, regardless of their background, beliefs, or experiences," said the organizer of the international beauty pageant.
"The words and actions of our representatives must reflect these immovable principles that were approved by all participants when joining the Miss Universe community," he said.
"This decision was taken after careful consideration and is in line with our commitment to upholding the highest standards in personal and professional behavior. This action was taken to protect the integrity of the organization and the opportunities it provides women around the world," he added.
Theilvig beat more than 120 other contestants in the 2023 competition, featuring married, big and transgender participants.
His win went viral as many people on social media commented that it showed 'returning to normal', as a woman won the crown again.
