Reminds Departure Of Procedures, Minister Karding Promises KUR Of IDR 100 Million When PMI Returns Home

JAKATA - Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding is committed to distributing People's Business Credit (KUR) to Retired Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) up to a maximum of IDR 100 million with a maximum interest rate of 6 percent to improve their welfare.

"We have agreed with the Ministry of Economy and SMEs to prepare a maximum KUR scheme of Rp. 100 million with an interest rate of six percent a year," said Minister Karding during a working visit to Ciparagejaya Village, Karawang, on Friday, January 10, which was confiscated by Antara.

The assistance, he said, was part of the government's efforts to empower migrant workers after they returned to work from abroad.

To obtain this assistance, Karding reminded PMI candidates to work abroad procedurally so that their names were registered and after returning to the country they could get the assistance.

"The village head can record who the citizens will want to do the business. Everyone who will go to work abroad must know the village head. Must go through procedural ones, we will take part in training," said Karding.

Meanwhile, Member of the House of Representatives Commission IX Obon Tabroni on the same occasion said that Karawang is the largest industrial area facing the problem of its citizens having difficulty finding work.

Many of its citizens, he said, chose to become PMI and hoped that their welfare would be considered until the full term as planned for KUR assistance by the Ministry of P2MI.

"The choice to become PMI is the last choice for them, because of the difficulty of job opportunities. The DPR and the government will collaborate and synergize for PMI's protection and welfare," said Obon.

"We hope that this program can be implemented properly in the form of complete PMI empowerment to try," said Obon Tabroni.
