NBA Rolling Out Soonest May 2020
JAKARTA - The NBA is the first professional sports league in the United States to stop competition. They did so on March 11 after Utah Jazz center Rudi Gobert became the first NBA player to test positive for COVID-19 or the coronavirus.
The NBA regular season is scheduled to end on April 15th, with the playoff rounds continuing on April 18th. Now, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said the NBA competition could resume at the earliest in May.
"Basically, as I told my people over the past week that we have to accept it, at least until April, we are not in a position to make any decisions," Silver said in an interview broadcast live on the NBA Twitter account.
"And I don't think that May 1 will be the date (to restart the competition)," he added.
With the current situation still uncertain regarding the spread of the coronavirus, Silver said no decision had yet been taken on whether the operator was still trying to finish the regular season or headed straight for the playoffs.
