Not Only Suitcases, PDIP Claims There Are Other Irregularities In The Investigation Of Hasto Cases

JAKARTA - The PDI-P DPP (PDIP) legal team revealed that there were a number of irregularities committed by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) when investigating allegations of bribery in the management of interim replacement (PAW) and the obstruction of the investigation that ensnared PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto.

Chairman of the PDIP DPP for Legal Reform Ronny B Talapessy said the first irregularities that should have been highlighted were when the KPK examined its former investigator, Ronald Paul Signal. This request for information was made on Wednesday, January 8.

"About the anomalies of investigators examining former investigators," said Ronny in Jakarta as quoted on Friday, January 10.

Then, Ronny also accused the KPK of dramatizing the investigation of the case that ensnared Hasto. One of them is by using a suitcase after searching Hasto's house in Bekasi, West Java and Kebagusan, South Jakarta on Tuesday, January 7.

He said, the excuse was to keep the evidence safe so that it was stored in a suitcase did not make sense. Ronny said the move was excessive because the confiscated items were only flash drives and small notebooks.

"We see this as part of a series of opinion gatherings that have continued since the first and second summons of the Secretary General accompanied by the confiscation of cellphones," he said.

Another oddity is that the search process means that the anti-corruption commission actually does not have enough evidence to determine Hasto as a suspect. This is because the summoning of witnesses was only carried out after the investigation warrant (sprindik) was leaked.

In fact, the leaking of this information then became a question because the KPK Spokesperson admitted that he did not know about the determination of the suspect. Thus, it is open to the possibility that the institution can be controlled from outside.

"Mas Hasto was named a suspect first and then built a legal construction because from the statements of the witnesses who were summoned to convey in the media there was nothing new. We suspect that the suspect has just been looking for witness statements and evidence," said the lawyer.

Previously reported, the KPK developed an interim replacement bribery (PAW) case that ensnared former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and his fugitive, Harun Masiku. Two people were later named as suspects, namely PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah who are PDIP cadres as well as lawyers.

It didn't stop there, Hasto was also a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of trying to obstruct the legal process, one of which is by asking Harun to damage his cellphone and run away after the hand arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.

Hasto has been summoned by investigators to be questioned as a suspect on Monday, January 6 yesterday. However, he asked for a postponement because there was a series of PDIP Anniversary events that had already been scheduled.

He then confirmed that he would fulfill the investigator's summons on Monday, January 13. Hasto admitted that he was ready to undergo the legal process with full responsibility and would cooperate.
