China Wants To Invest In Furniture For IDR 1.38 Billion US Dollars In Indonesia
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ambassador to the People's Republic of China (PRC) and Mongolia Djauhari Oratmangun said China would invest US $ 1.38 billion in Indonesia, including in West Kalimantan.
"So far China has invested a lot in West Kalimantan. This year investors from there will invest in Indonesia, especially in West Kalimantan and Batang City, Central Java. The investment value in the furniture sector is US $ 1.38 billion," he said, quoted from Antara, Friday 16 April.
He explained that in mid-April - May 2021, Chinese businessmen would visit Indonesia, especially to two regions, West Kalimantan and Central Java.
"Of course this investment is an opportunity for regions to advance and continue to build trade cooperation," he explained.
So far, it is clear that West Kalimantan has played a major role in increasing the value of Indonesia's exports to China, which is 10.13 percent.
"What is interesting is that Indonesia's exports have increased, including the contribution from West Kalimantan which is significant 10.13 percent, with this increase we are able to reduce the trade problems between Indonesia and China by almost 69 percent, this is data from China," he said.
He mentioned that Indonesia is currently in the ASEAN country ranking 4th as the largest exporter to China in 2020.
"Until the current pandemic, the relationship between Indonesia and China is well established and the total realization of Chinese investment in Indonesia in 2020 is US $ 4.8 billion," he said.
The value of Indonesia's exports has increased by 15 percent compared to the total exports in 2019.
"There is an increase in Indonesia's exports for this year by 15 percent, superior products and their potential include, iron and steel increased by 136.52 percent, paper and paperboard 133.25 percent, tin and goods thereof 544.07 percent and other goods," he said.
The total trade between the two countries is already above 78.48 billion US dollars, there is a slight decrease in volume due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"For trade in 2020, with the current pandemic, tourism becomes suspended animation, hopefully with proper handling, tourism will increase," he hoped.
