Terrorists Shot Dead In Makassar: Former Bomb Thrower In The Syahrul Yasin Limpo Campaign

JAKARTA - The suspected terrorist with the initials MT who was shot dead by Densus 88 Anti-terror in Makassar, South Sulawesi, is a former convict. He has been out of prison for five years.

"He is also a former terrorist convict who was convicted in 2013 and released in 2016", said Head of Public Relations Division of the Police, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Friday, April 16.

From the data obtained, the suspected terrorist messed up when Syahrul Yasin Limpo campaigned for Governor of South Sulawesi in 2012. The suspected terrorist threw a bomb into the crowd.

"Then the person concerned was also involved in the bomb-throwing during the campaign of one of the Syahrul Yasin Limpo governors", said Ramadhan.

Apart from that, said Ramadhan, the suspected terrorist was also the Villa Mutiara group, Biringkanaya, Makassar. He was one of the people involved in the suicide bombing in front of the Makassar Cathedral Church.

"The involvement of MT is a member of the JAD of Villa Mutiara group which is, of course, related to the suicide bomber at the Cathedral Church," he said.

As previously reported, the National Police's Densus 88 Anti-terrorism shot dead one of the terrorist suspects with the initials MT, on Mannuruki Street, Tamalate District, Makassar, South Sulawesi. The suspected terrorist was shot dead because he wanted to attack the police with a machete.

"Members are in a state of urgency because MT is holding machetes in both hands and will attack the members until they are finally given firm action", said Head of Public Relations of the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Kombes E Zulpan, quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 15.

During the MT raid at his house on Mannuruki Street, Makassar, members of the Indonesian Police Anti-terror Special Detachment 88, assisted by members of the Mobile Brigade of the South Sulawesi Regional Police, attempted to secure suspected terrorists.

However, when the members were about to be taken away, MT with two sharp weapons, machetes in both hands, tried to attack the police, which was then responded to by the members with warning shots.

"We have been given warning shots, but he tried to attack and was finally given firm action", he said again.
