Shin Tae-yong Fired PSSI, Thom Haye Admits He Can't Forget Memories Together In The Indonesian National Team

JAKARTA - Thom Haye also commented on the status of Shin Tae-yong, who was no longer the coach of the Indonesian national team after being fired by PSSI. He admitted that he could not forget the memories of being together when he was still in the squad.

PSSI officially terminated the South Korean coach's contract on Monday, January 6, 2025. This decision is quite surprising considering that Shin Tae-yong recently received a contract extension until 2027.

Thom Haye is one of the Indonesian national team players who is apparently also surprised by this situation.

Haye admitted that during his days together in the Indonesian national team, many moments could not be forgotten. He also considered this to be a moment that he would continue to remember.

"I will remember the moments and trips we have gone through with the Indonesian national team," said Thom Haye, quoted from his personal Instagram Story on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

In addition, Thom Haye also thanked Shin Tae-yong for leading the Indonesian national team and also prayed for the coach.

"Thank you coach and good luck in the future," said Thom Haye again.

After Shin Tae-yong no longer led the Indonesian national team, Patrick Kluiver was predicted to take over the vacant position.

Other names such as Louis van Gaal are also said to be involved as Technical Director. This step was taken by PSSI to bring the Indonesian national team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

The Indonesian national team will undergo the remaining four matches of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Third Round against Australia and Bahrain in March 2025 and China and Japan in June 2025.

Currently, the Indonesian national team is in third place in the Group C standings of the 2026 World Cup Qualification by packing six points, the same as the other three teams that are in fourth to sixth place, namely Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and China.
