New Coach Scheme Of The Indonesian National Team, Two Years Plus Two

JAKARTA - PSSI General Chairperson (Ketum), Erick Thohir, revealed a scheme that will be applied to the new coach of the Indonesian national team. Later, the coach is contracted with a duration of two years plus two years of extension options.

"The contract (new coach) is two (years) plus two (years of extension)," said Erick Thohir after a press conference in Central Jakarta on Monday, January 6, 2025, afternoon.

The new coach's contract scheme was expressed in line with Shin Tae-yong's dismissal from the coaching chair of the Indonesian national team. After collaborating since 2020, Monday, January 6, 2025, the South Korean coach's contract officially expires.

Instead, Erick Thohir revealed that he had obtained a replacement figure from the Netherlands. Patrick Kluiver is one of the most strongly associated names.

Later, the Dutch coach will be accompanied by two assistant coaches from Europe. In addition, there will be a coach from Indonesia who will also be involved.

However, for a detailed explanation of the appointed figure, Erick Thohir is still reluctant to reveal. He only ensured that one of the assistant coaches of the Indonesian national team would become the U-23 Indonesia coach for the 2025 SEA Games and the 2026 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification.

"Of the total assistants whose names have been entered, there are two (to be brought). You see, one of them will focus on the U-23 and several more such as analyst videos or various things," said Erick.

"Yes, foreign. The agreement is in the composition of the senior team, I can place two coaches from Indonesia to certainly learn. For the U-23 the majority will come from Indonesia," he said again.
