The kitchens are scattered in the provinces of Aceh, Bali, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, Riau Islands, Riau, Lampung, Banten, West Java, DKI Jakarta, Central Java, East Java, DI Yogyakarta, Gorontalo, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Maluku, North Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara, West Papua, and South Papua.
Head of Presidential Communication of the Republic of Indonesia Hasan Nasbi said the kitchen of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) was managed by a head of the SPPG who was appointed directly by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
"The head of this SPPG is working with a nutritionist and an accountant to ensure strict supervision of the quality of nutrition and smooth distribution of food," Hasan said in his statement, Sunday, January 5.
In addition to ensuring nutritional adequacy in each portion of MBG, SPPG is also tasked with closely supervising hygiene standards, nutrition management, and waste treatment in each MBG Kitchen.
"BGN is committed to minimizing waste. In fact, to support sustainability, presentation displays are designed using hygienic and reusable stainless steel materials," Hasan explained.
In the early stages, 190 MBG kitchens began operating on January 6. The government targets 937 MBG kitchens to be achieved by the end of January 2025 with the implementation carried out in stages in accordance with the readiness of each region.
During January to March 2025, it is hoped that the MBG program can touch three million beneficiaries, consisting of toddlers, students, PAUD, Kindergarten, SD, SMP, SMA, and pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. This number will continue to grow to reach 15 million by the end of 2025.
"This figure continues to grow gradually, until 2029 the target of 82.9 million beneficiaries can be met," said Hasan.
Hasan continued, 140 MSMEs have been involved in the MBG program supply chain and this number is projected to continue to grow. Thousands of MSMEs, cooperatives, and other BUMDes have signed up and are currently going through the evaluation process.
