Arteta: Recruiting One Player On The January Exchange Is Not Enough For Arsenal In The Title Competition

JAKARTA - Mikel Arteta insists Arsenal have the power to win the 2024/2025 Premier League.

However, he warns that recruiting someone alone is not enough to make a difference in the title race.

The Gunners are in the midst of supporters' insistence on recruiting big players in January 2025 to strengthen their efforts to win their first league title since 2004.

Arsenal have long-term interest in Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig and Alexander Isak from Newcastle United. They have also observed Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.

However, the deal for one of the players seemed difficult in January 2025.

"I don't know, it could be a perception, it could be a reality. Recruiting someone alone is not enough, that's for sure."

"Recruitment has to score, then how many goals? A lot to do."

"Recruit, then score 20 goals from here to the end and then do you have a better chance?"

"Maybe, yes, I don't know. However, I am very happy with the players we have."

"When you look at the number of goals we have scored, it's more than enough to win the Premier League, our (other) numbers as well," Arteta said of whether recruiting attackers was a solution to winning the title race.

Arteta further emphasized that the most important thing now is consistency in achieving the Premier League champions' target.

So, the Spanish manager basically doesn't want to rely on the current winter stock exchange.

"The reality is, if someone does more, we have to be better. The (January) transfer market is much more limited than the summer transfer market."

"However, people's hopes and dreams are good things. All we have to do is show the same level of consistency and a little more."

"The thing is, last year we were the best team in the league, broke various records, and still haven't won the main trophy. So, something is missing."

"It can be very small, small details, you can take certain matches, certain situations."

"However, in the end we were so close and only needed to throw the coin at another party to make it happen," said Arteta.

Arsenal will travel to Brighton on Sunday, January 5, 2025, early morning WIB. Those in second place are trying to reduce the difference by six points from Liverpool's league leaders.
