Five Challenges Marc Marquez In MotoGP 2025

JAKARTA Marc Marquez is expected to face five tough challenges in the 2025 MotoGP event as he tries to end his title fast since his dominance in the 2019 edition.

The efforts of the Spaniard will most likely bear fruit this year. The road will definitely not be smooth, but the support of motorcycles from the Ducati manufacturer will make his chances of becoming a wide open champion again.

The journey of the six-time MotoGP world champion's career has suffered a setback since 2020 when he crashed at the Spanish Grand Prix. Broken arms in the accident made his performance with Honda plummet.

Marquez then decided to terminate his contract with Honda and move to the Ducati Satellite team, Gresini Racing. The decision was proven appropriate.

During his one year with Gresini and riding a motorbike that was one year older, Marquez proved himself to be able to compete. He won three Grand Prixs so that he was promoted to the Italian factory team.

Marquez is predicted to be much more competitive in the 2025 MotoGP after seeing his performance last season. However, he will definitely get a tough mural, including from his teammate Francesco Bagnaia.

Quoted from Crash, here are five obstacles that Marquez may face during the 2025 MotoGP.

BEST VERSION OF FRANCESCO BAGNAIA

Bagnaia, who has won the MotoGP world twice, has won 11 Grand Prix in 2024, but failed to defend his title against Jorge Martin by just 10 points.

Only big names like Valentino Rossi, Marquez, Jorge Lorenzo, and Casey Stoner were able to win that much Grand Prix in one season of racing in the modern era.

Bagnaia tertekad memperbaiki kesalahan musim 2024 dan siap berjuang untuk gelar ketiga dalam kariernya.

He has a great chance of doing that because his speed above the track is unquestionable.

Marquez here will definitely be a tough test for Bagnaia. Thus, the competition between these two names in the 2025 competition will certainly be very fierce.

FIRST TITLE FIGHT PRESSURE SINCE 2019

Marc Marquez was previously judged to have won the seventh title when he moved to Gresini. Even though he was able to appear competitive, he ultimately failed to compete with Bagnaia and Martin who won.

Marquez is currently certainly under great pressure to catch up to the title. Marquez is not too old, but his career is nearing the end amid the onslaught of a more massive rider.

Currently, his chances of winning more championships are decreasing. Even though he received the support of the Ducati manufacturer's motorbike, his chance to become a champion was rather difficult to run smoothly.

NEW HEAD OF CREW

For the third year in a row, Marquez will work with a different crew head. He left Santi Hernandez on Honda when he moved to Ducati and teamed up with crew head few Carchedi.

This relationship has proven well. Both drivers and crew heads can work together to overcome any problems they face during the race weekend. However, Ducati did not bring Carchedi with Marquez.

In Ducati, Marquez will also work with Marco Rigamonti. This name has worked with Enea Bastianini, Johann Zarco, and Andrea Iannone for years.

However, the relationship between the rider and the crew head does not always run smoothly. In addition, the new crew head made Marquez automatically have to adapt again and it is possible that the relationship will go up and down.

PROOF OF DUCATI'S DECISION

Marquez is more favored in front of Jorge Martin so he gets a manufacturer seat. Therefore, this trust he must fight for to prove Ducati did not choose him wrong.

Martin is the world champion in 2024, but Ducati instead made the decision for 2025 by preferring Marquez. Meanwhile Martin ended up driving Aprilia this year and of course became Marquez's competitor.

However, Martin is considered not to be a problem for Marquez. Moreover, Aprilia began to disappear from the front row dramatically in the second half of the 2024 season and has almost everything new line-up.

REVIEW THE OLD COMPETITION

Joining Ducati automatically made Marquez return to the orbit of his old enemy, Valentino Rossi. The MotoGP living legend did not even remain silent after Ducati's decision to partner with the 31-year-old rider.

In L'Equipe's interview, Rossi even said he didn't understand Ducati's decision. On Andrea Migno's podcast, he again put forward a conspiracy theory about his defeat in the race for the title in 2015.

So, obviously this is interesting to wait because Bagnaia is Rossi's student. Recently Rossi even admitted that he wanted to spend more time in the 2025 MotoGP after previously he focused more on car racing.

This is a funny coincidence when his arch-enemy enters Ducati. For that, Marquez most likely has to face a psychological war, especially if there is tension with Bagnaia going on track.
