PLN Urges The Public Not To Rush To Buy 50 Percent Discount Electricity Tokens

PT PLN (Persero) ensures that the economic stimulus package in the form of a 50 percent electricity tariff cut for customers with a power of 2,200 Volt Ampere (VA) and below can be enjoyed from January 1, 2025 to February 2025.

For this reason, PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo appealed to PLN customers, especially prepaid ones who want to purchase electricity tokens, not to rush because discounts will still apply throughout the month.

Darmawan also explained that 50% electricity tariff cuts can be enjoyed automatically and without a complicated mechanism for those classified as power.

"We also ensure that with the digitized customer service system, customers can easily enjoy this program without the need for a registration process or a complicated mechanism," Darmawan explained as quoted on Thursday, January 2.

In accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 348.K/TL.01/MEM.L/2024 concerning the Discount of Electricity Costs for Household Consumers of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero), a 50 percent discount is given to household customers of PT PLN (Persero) with 450 VA, 900 VA, 1,300 VA, and 2,200 VA power which is valid for two months, namely January and February 2025.

In its implementation, postpaid customers with a 50 percent discount will automatically apply when customers make electricity bill payments for the use of the January period and the February 2025 period. Meanwhile, prepaid customers only need to buy half (50 percent) from usual to get the same energy (kWh) anywhere.

"For postpaid customers, the nominal monthly bill will automatically be reduced by 50 percent when paying for electricity. As for prepaid customers, a 50 percent discount will be obtained immediately when customers buy electricity tokens, be it at PLN Mobile, in retail, in agents, and anywhere else," said Darmawan.
