Wuling Inaugurates Electric Car Battery Production Line In RI, CloudEV And BinguoEV Battery Suppliers
PT SGMW Motor Indonesia (Wuling) is not only assembling electric cars in the country, now the brand is starting to produce batteries in the supplier park area at the Wuling Motors factory located in Cikarang, West Java.
The facility, which cost IDR 87 billion, reflects Wuling's long-term commitment to supporting the development of the electric car industry in Indonesia. Not only that, this step is also an effort for brands from China to participate in accelerating and complementing the electrification ecosystem.
The Manager of Operation Battery Line Wuling Motors Andrin Ad blackata, expressed his pride in Wuling's contribution in supporting Indonesia's transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
"SGMW is one of the pioneers in supporting the regulation of electric vehicles and also the requirements for the domestic content level (TKDN). This local battery production will be used in the future for Wuling CloudEV and BinguoEV," he said, in an official statement received on Thursday, January 2.

At the factory, Wuling's electric car battery production will go through five stations, which are designed to ensure the best efficiency and quality. Starting from the Cell Stacking Station, where the battery components are tidied up and arranged into battery houses.
The process continues to the welding Station which uses robotic technology to connect battery cells and hardness precision. Then it is forwarded to the Front Pack Station, where the top shell of the battery is installed and the bolts are tightened perfectly. Then the next phase is the Charging Station, which is a battery testing area to ensure optimal performance and safety during the charging and charging process. Lastly is the Rear Pack Station, here the battery will be weighed, packed and stored properly before being distributed to electric car production.
"With this facility, it means a lot to Wuling in Indonesia in dealing with an increasingly competitive automotive market in the future so that it becomes technical provisions and is also flexible in production management," said VP of Purchasing Quality and Engineering Wuling Motors Guan Hong.
On the same occasion, Zhang Ying Saike Ruipu ME Manager, said that in the future the company will continue to be committed to supporting the development of battery production lines, so that they can grow rapidly and contribute more.
"The collaboration between the SGMW team and local partners is the main key in realizing innovative foreign battery production lines and competitiveness," said Ying.
