Spreading 1500 Nila Fish Seeds To Support Food Security In West Manggarai
The West Manggarai Police (Mabar), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has deployed 1,500 tilapia seeds in a freshwater pond owned by residents in Labuan Bajo. This step was taken as a form of support for the Asta Cita program initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.
"This is part of the police's efforts to support food security, one of the main focuses of the central government," said Head of Polairud West Manggarai Police, AKP Dimas Yusuf Fadhillah Rahmanto, in a written statement in Labuan Bajo, as quoted by ANTARA.
According to AKP Dimas, tilapia are chosen because they are easy to adapt to the surrounding environment and have the durability to various types of diseases. In addition, tilapia are rich in protein that is beneficial to public health.
"Tilapia fish have advantages in terms of fast growth, are easy to cultivate, and are able to adapt to the new environment," he explained.
This program aims to encourage people to use freshwater fish cultivation as an alternative to nutritious food sources while increasing economic value.

This activity is also designed to strengthen relations between the police and the community through initiatives that have a direct impact on community welfare.
AKP Dimas hopes that the program will make a real contribution in strengthening food security at the local level and supporting national food security.
"We want to be part of a solution in creating sustainable food security. We hope that programs like this can continue to develop and provide wider benefits in the future," he concluded.
