Operation Pekat Karawang Net 31 Non-Husband Couples Ahead Of The New Year
The joint team consisting of the police, TNI, and Satpol PP of Karawang Regency, West Java, managed to capture 31 non-husband and wife couples in the Pekat Operation which was held on Saturday morning, December 28, 2024. This operation was carried out in a number of boarding houses and other lodging in the East Telukjambe and West Karawang sub-districts, ahead of the New Year's Eve celebrations.
The head of the Karawang Satpol PP, Basuki Rachmat, said that this joint operation was part of the effort to enforce the Karawang Regional Regulation Number 12 of 2023 which regulates the Implementation of Public Order, Community Peace, and Community Protection.
"This operation is also a follow-up to public reports through the Tangkar and Sipapol applications related to allegations of potential violations of decency in a number of boarding houses and lodging," he said.
During the operation, the joint team took firm action against couples suspected of committing immoral acts without marriage ties. After being secured, they were taken to the Karawang Satpol PP Office to undergo further examination.

Basuki Rachmat also reminded boarding houses and inn managers to always maintain social order in accordance with applicable regulations. "For boarding house and lodging managers, they are prohibited from allowing and having to always be aware of potential disturbances in immoral acts in their place of business," he said.
In addition, this operation is also an affirmation of the Circular of the Regent of Karawang Number 6568 of 2024 regarding the implementation of Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 celebrations. The letter reminded that New Year's Eve celebrations should be carried out by taking into account ethics, aesthetics, and norms, and not disturbing public peace.
This Pekat operation is part of the Karawang Regency Government's efforts to maintain order and create a safe and comfortable atmosphere ahead of the New Year celebrations.
