Ruben Amorim Finally Surrendered After Manchester United Lost Again

JAKARTA - Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim finally gave up after losing again in the English Premier League match. He admitted that MU's chances of qualifying for European competitions were closed.

The 2-0 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Boxing Day, Friday, December 27, 2024 in the morning WIB was the fourth of five Amorious matches in the Premier League. MU, in total, has lost five times to 10 matches while being handled by Amorim.

The series of failures made MU eliminated in the Carabao Cup after losing 4-3 against Tottenham Hotspur. Finally, the defeat at Wolves' home at the Molineux Stadium made the Red Devils ranking continue to decline.

In a match that was held a day after Christmas or Boxing Day, MU lost captain Bruno Fernandes who got a red card in the second half. Playing with 10 people, MU's defense finally broke. Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan's goal brought Wolves 2-0 up.

The defeat made MU stuck in 14th place with 22. The 20th Premier League Champion is closer to the relegation zone than the top league.

MU's position at the bottom made it difficult for UM to give up. MU has difficulty improving the rankings. He, as quoted by Mail Online, assessed that MU's chances of going to European competition by competing in the Europa League were closed.

"Not anymore," said Amorim when asked whether he was still focused on bringing MU to the European zone or at least being ranked fifth. Amorim said he was only focused on fixing the team that was getting worse.

"A lot of work must be done both on and off the field," he said again. "What is clear is that our reason remains the same for now. This team is still the same whether it is when they win or lose. When they lose, I have to be stronger and I will continue what my idea is for this team. And this does take time," he said.

The former Sporting Lisbon coach admitted that he did not know how long he could solve the team's problems and fix their performance so that they returned to winning ways.

"I don't know. Instead of thinking about how much more time it will take, I'd better focus on the team's day off getting better. We will learn our game through video recordings and in every exercise something must be achieved. I think this is important at this time," said Amorim.

Amoram said that at this time he was only trying to bring MU to victory in order to survive. He hopes the players will stay focused on the next match.

"For now, we are just trying to survive and win the game. We are facing a tough moment. But we have to continue our steps and focus on the game in sight," he said.

Manchester United face an opponent not easy, Newcastle United, in the next match. The match was held at United's home at Old Trafford, Tuesday, December 31, 2024 in the morning WIB. Newcastle, who are currently ranked fifth, successfully destroyed Aston Villa 3-0.
