Police Ban Convoy Activities On New Year's Eve

JAKARTA - The police have prohibited convoy activities on New Year's Eve. The goal is to prevent something unwanted from happening.

The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi, appealed to the public to enjoy the atmosphere of New Year's Eve with positive activities.

"We declare that the convoy is prohibited with the intention of protecting. Yesterday the Metro Jaya Police Chief in the troop title meeting conveyed the happy atmosphere, the atmosphere of celebrating the turn of the year let's do positive activities," Ade Ary told reporters in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Wednesday, December 25.

The former South Jakarta Metro Police Chief also said that his party would carry out insulation at a number of points. The goal is to prevent convoy activities on New Year's Eve.

"Yes (there is an insulation). Of course later in our field too. Even though law enforcement is the last resort. So we hope that this appeal can be accepted, it can be digested by the community so that potential disturbances in order, security disturbances do not occur," he said.

He said that if a convoy action was found, it would eventually disrupt the security and social order and criminal acts. So his party will take firm action against the groups that carried out the convoy.

"If necessary, of course, our officers will do it. Law enforcement efforts," he concluded.
