Police Suspect Vehicles Used By Perpetrators When Hit And Run In Tebet Type Mercy Jeep

JAKARTA - Police are hunting for a car driver who allegedly hit a pedestrian to death on Jalan Raya Casablanca, Menteng Dalam, Tebet, South Jakarta (Jaksel), Saturday, December 21, morning.

It is known that the man with the initials AM died in a pathetic condition, which filled his head to the street.

Director of Traffic (Dirlantas) Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Latif Usman, suspects that the perpetrator's car uses a black Mercy Jeep.

"The case indicated a hit-and-run, the perpetrator used a Mercy Jeep car based on fragments of evidence of a lightglass at the crime scene. However, the police number was not read," Latif said when confirmed, Wednesday, December 25.

However, he admitted that he had not been able to reveal the identity of the alleged perpetrator of the hit-and-run which resulted in the victim's death. Because the police number on the car was not clearly visible.

Not just giving up, Latif said, his party would look for other CCTV cameras around the scene. The goal is to reveal the identity of the driver of the car.

He emphasized that his party would continue to hunt down the perpetrators to account for their actions.

"Yes (buried), we are continuing to investigate," he said.

Previously, the police confirmed that the man with the initials AM (36) who was found dead in a pathetic condition on Jalan Raya Casablanca, Menteng Dalam, Tebet, South Jakarta (Jaksel), was a victim of a hit-and-run. This was discovered after seeing CCTV footage at the scene.

"(The victim) hit and run. I've seen that it was purely an accident and then saw CCTV," said Tebet Police Chief, Kompol Murohih when confirmed, Wednesday, December 25.

AM's body was found dead in a pathetic condition, which filled his head to the street. The incident was discovered on Saturday, December 21 morning.

Murohi said the incident began when the victim was walking in the bicycle lane area on Saturday, December 21, at 02.43 WIB. Suddenly a black car came at high speed, immediately hit the victim.

Walk on the bicycle lane. (Then) hit from behind at high speed. It's not very visible (car number plates and types) is only black," he said.
