Expire Food Discounts At The End Of Wahun, Karawang Residents Are Advised To Be Alert

JAKARTA - The Non-Governmental Consumer Protection Agency (LPKSM) Linkar reminded the people of Karawang Regency, West Java, to be aware of discounts on food and out-of-agency drinks during the year-end holiday momentum.

"At the end of this year, business actors often give discounts on every purchase of food or drinks," said Mustapid, Activist of LPKSM Linkar in Karawang, as reported by ANTARA.

Even though they buy food and drinks at a discount, he said, the public must remain alert to the possibility of food and expired drinks.

Vigilance not to buy expired foods and drinks must be done, to ensure the safety and health of consumers is maintained during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

This was conveyed because the circulation of food and drinks that did not comply with the standards or expired often increased ahead of major celebrations such as Christmas and New Year.

"So for health and safety together, we urge the public to be careful when shopping," he said.

For people who find food or beverage sales suspected of not meeting the standards or expiration, they can immediately report to LPKSM Linkar.

As an institution that focuses on consumer protection, he said, LPKSM Linkar opens complaints for people who find violations related to food products.

He stated that he would follow up on public reports, in order to protect consumers from the risk of poisoning or other health impacts.

"We are ready to receive reports from the public. This is a form of our commitment to ensure that consumers get rights to products that are safe and fit for consumption," he said.
