Hang Nadim Batam Airport Serves 693 Flights in 8 Days

JAKARTA - PT Bandara Internasional Batam (BIB), the operator of Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam, served 693 flights in eight days, starting from December 18-25, to support smooth travel during the 2024 Christmas-2025 New Year holidays.

President Director of PT Bandara Internasional Batam Pikri Ilham Kurniansyah in Batam, Wednesday, said that the spike in passengers was influenced by several factors, such as ticket prices, increasing Christmas homecoming activities, end-of-year holidays, and economic recovery that encouraged community mobility.

He said that since the opening of the integrated post for Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 transportation, on December 18-25, 2024, the number of passenger movements reached 102,571 people.

"With an accumulation of 49,045 departing passengers and 53,526 arriving passengers," said Pikri.

The peak of passenger movement during the Christmas-New Year homecoming period occurred on December 19, 2024, with 15,203 people or an increase of 39.6 percent compared to the same period last year, with an accumulation of 8,265 passenger departures and 6,938 passenger arrivals.

"We are also committed to providing the best service for the comfort and safety of airport service users, especially during the Christmas and New Year holidays like this," he said.

Pikri said, to anticipate the increase in passenger volume, BIB management has taken strategic steps such as serving additional flights, strengthening operations, and optimizing the beautification of the terminal.

Furthermore, he explained, to improve comfort when traveling by air, BIB management has also added and provided several other facilities such as Christmas themes, transit rest rooms, self-check-in machines, prayer rooms, toilets, children's play areas, integrated airline customer services, online transportation and airport taxis, as well as a new commercial area that provides various types of souvenirs and places to eat with a distinctive Indonesian taste.

BIB Management also appealed to passengers to arrive early to avoid crowds and ensure a smooth check-in process and utilize the facilities available at Hang Nadim Batam International Airport.
