Lady Gaga Fans Call For Release Of ARTPOP Act II, Why?
JAKARTA - Eight years have passed since Lady Gaga's ARTPOP album was released. Recently, a fan-made a petition on the Change.org website asking Gaga to release the ARTPOP Act II album.
The petition began when ARTPOP album producer, DJ White Shadow, hinted at the release of an unpublished track. Even though the DJ said the news was part of April Fool, fans were still calling for this petition.
Fans feel this album does not get much attention compared to other Gaga albums. Evidently, Gaga never forgot if she made this album.
"I don't remember ARTPOP", she said via Twitter in November 2019.
DJ White Shadow admitted that he was amazed by the action of fans who wanted to hear the continuation of the ARTPOP album. "It's surprised how you guys still care about that era, and about some songs you've never heard of".
Different Concept
This A Star is Born star said, ARTPOP is the most poetic musical journey he has ever written. Unfortunately, the response from critics was not very interesting and mixed.
Through her third album, Gaga chose EDM and synth-pop as the main genres with various dubstep, techno, and R&B touches. Apart from DJ White Shadow, Gaga collaborated with Zedd and Madeon on this album.
The song's nuance was different from previous pop releases which made Gaga heavily criticized. Even though she has prepared several plans, one of which is the continuation of the ARTPOP Act II.
Her stage action when promoting ARTPOP was also not very well received by the public. One of them is when Gaga throws up someone. This was a gimmick on the SXSW festival stage, but the performance was seen as mocking people with eating disorders.
Collaborator
Fans assume the reason Lady Gaga forgot the album was because of the many events that happened around her.
One of the tracks, Do What U Want singing by Gaga with R. Kelly was removed from digital music services. This was done following the documentary Surviving R. Kelly broadcasting a case of sexual harassment by the collaborator.
There is also a T.I rapper who created controversy after releasing a statement here on Ladies Like Us. T.I said he always accompanied his 18-year-old daughter to check the hymen to a gynecologist to make sure his child was still a virgin.
T.I, who filled the song Jewels n 'Drugs in the ARTPOP album, made Gaga's name and ARTPOP album stick out to the public again. But with a stigma that is not good.
Thank you
The petition for fan requests for the presence of ARTPOP Act II has reached 40 thousand signatures. The hashtag #buyARTPOPoniTunes is also popular on the internet.
As a result, the album ARTPOP returned to the top 10 of the iTunes music chart and ranked first on the Billboard 200. Knowing what fans were up to, Gaga wrote two tweets about the petition.
“The #buyARTPOPoniTunes petition for volume II has inspired tremendous warmth in my heart. Making this album was like heart surgery, I was depressed, felt sick, and put my heart for electronic music that hit harder than any drug I could find".
“I fell apart after releasing this album. Thank you for entrusting something that felt like destruction. We always believe it is ahead of time. Years later, sometimes, an artist finds out. So are little monsters”.
Unfortunately, Gaga did not mention whether the ARTPOP Act II plan would continue or not.
