Police Confirm Body Found in Tebet Is Hit-and-Run Victim
JAKARTA - Police confirmed that the man with the initials AM (36) who was found dead in a gruesome condition on Casablanca street, Menteng Dalam, Tebet, South Jakarta (Jaksel), was the victim of a hit and run. This was discovered after viewing CCTV footage at the scene.
"(The victim) was hit and run. I have seen that it was purely an accident and then looked at the CCTV," said Tebet Police Chief, Commissioner Murodih when confirmed, Wednesday, December 25.
AM's body was found dead in a terrible condition, with the contents of his head scattered onto the road. The incident was discovered on Saturday, December 21 morning.
Murodih revealed that the incident began when the victim was walking in the bicycle lane area on Saturday, December 21, at 02.43 WIB. Suddenly a black car came at high speed, immediately hitting the victim.
"Walking in the bicycle lane. (Then) hit from behind at high speed. It was not very visible (the car's license plate and type) only black," he said.
Then, the driver, said Murodih, died immediately. Worse still, no residents or drivers helped the victim and chased the driver.
"The vehicle was not seen at high speed. Yes (the perpetrator) immediately fled. (Other drivers) didn't care," he said.
Therefore, the victim was only discovered in the morning. When found by local residents. Then reported to the police.
Currently the case is being handled by Laka Lantas Polda Metro Jaya, in order to reveal the identity of the perpetrator who committed the hit-and-run.
"Handled by Laka Lantas Polda," he concluded.
