Golani Disbands Syrian Rebel Groups, Withdraws To Become Ministry Of Defense Employees
JAKARTA - The leader of the Syrian de facto, Abu Mohammed al-Golani, or Ahmed al-Sharaa reached an agreement with the heads of the insurgent group factions to dissolve all the militant groups that toppled the Bashar al-Assad regime.
Citing Reuters, Tuesday, December 24, Sharaa wants to consolidate them under the Syrian Ministry of Defense (Kemhan).
Earlier, Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed al-Bashir said the new government ministry would be restructured.
Former members of the rebel faction and officers who defected from the Assad troops will be empowered in the ministry.
Sharaa's leadership will face heavy tasks to prevent clashes from various militant groups that undermine Assad.
The new Syrian ruler has now appointed Murhaf Abu Qasra, a prominent figure in the uprising that toppled Assad, as Minister of Defense in the interim government.
In running the government, Sharaa ensured that the militant group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) she led would not take revenge against the previous regime or oppress any religious minority in Syria.
Ethnic and religious Minorities in Syria include Kurdish and Shiite Muslims, Orthodox Christians, Greece and Armenia, as well as the Druze community, during civil war are known to be afraid if the Sunni group leads the Syrian government.
The Syrian rebels controlled the city after the city in Syria to control Damascus on December 8.
