Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Reveals Reynhard Sinaga's Condition In British Prisons

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the Indonesian Embassy in London are monitoring the condition of the convict for life in the case of the Reynhard Sinaga (RS) sexual assault who is currently languishing in Wakefield Prison, England.

For this reason, the Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens and BHIKemlu RI Judha Nugraha ensured that his party had communicated both with Reynhard and with the local prison authorities.

"The condition of the hospital is generally good, but it is experiencing psychological pressure related to cases of bullying (in prison)," Judha said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 24.

Regarding information about the violence between detainees against Reynhard which was recently busy on social media, the Director of PWNI of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that this happened in July 2023 and did not happen this year.

Judha said the prison had examined the condition of Reynhard Sinaga. In addition, his party has also asked Reynhard to contact his family in Indonesia to confirm the current news, he said.

"The hospital has also contacted his family in Indonesia twice," said the Director of PWNI of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra previously confirmed that the Indonesian government was closely monitoring the condition of Reynhard Sinaga, especially after news circulated that the man was attacked by fellow detainees in British prisons.

At a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Human Rights Office, Imipas, Friday (20/12), Yusril said that he had assigned his staff to communicate with the Reynhard family and with the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to get as much information as possible regarding Reynhard's condition.
