Coordinating Minister For Political, Legal And Security Affairs Around Churches In Jakarta Ensures Christmas Eve Security
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menkopolkam) Budi Gunawan and government officials checked a number of churches in Jakarta, to ensure that Christmas Mass at Christmas Day 2024 runs safely.
The churches visited ranged from the Jakarta Cathedral Church, the Indonesian Christian Church (GKI) Samanhudi, and the Church (GPIB) Immanuel Jakarta.
"We as representatives of the government, today we have toured several churches, as well as places for departure objects and routes for the Christmas and New Year holidays, to ensure that the implementation of this Christmas Mass holy service can be safe and peaceful," said Budi Gunawan at GPIB Immanuel, Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 24.
He visited a number of churches with the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Pratikno, Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
In addition to checking the church, he also checked the Cathedral Church Security Post located in front of the Istiqlal Mosque before checking the Cathedral Church.

According to him, the government through the TNI and Polri has alerted 1,854 integrated post points and service posts to ensure that the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year activities run smoothly.
So far, according to him, the peak of community mobility in the context of Christmas and New Year has occurred on Saturday (21/12). Then, he said, the peak mobility is predicted to occur on December 25-26, 2024.
