Mount Raung Eruption Five Times Today
JAKARTA - Mount Raung, which is located on the border of Jember, Bondowoso, and Banyuwangi regencies, East Java, erupted five times on Tuesday from 09.30 WIB to 12.10 WIB.
Mount Raung Mukijo Observation Post officers noted that the first eruption of the mountain with a height of 3,332 meters above sea level (masl) occurred at 09.30 WIB and the height of the eruption column was observed to be about 2,000 meters above the peak or 5,332 meters above sea level.
"The ash column was observed to be gray with thick intensity to the east. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 32 mm and a duration of 282 seconds," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 24.
The second eruption occurred at 10.25 WIB and the visual eruption was not observed. When the report was made, the eruption was still ongoing. Then, at 10.31 WIB, Mount Raung erupted again for the third time.
"Visual eruptions were not observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 23 mm and a duration of 152 seconds," he said.
Mount Raung erupted again at 10.35 WIB and the eruption visual was not observed, but the eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 23 mm and a duration of 114 seconds.

Furthermore, at 12.10 WIB, Mount Raung erupted again and the eruption visual was not observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 16 mm and a duration of 116 seconds.
Meanwhile, the seismic activity of Mount Raung on Monday (23/12) observations recorded seven gusts with an amplitude of 4-9 mm, three distant tectonic earthquakes with an amplitude of 8-32 mm, and one tremor earthquake with an amplitude of 0.5-8 mm.
