PGI Orders Christmas To Become A Momentum For Contemplation And Empathy
JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Indonesian Churches Association (PGI) Pastor Jacklevyn Fritz Manuputty advised Christians not to overdo it, given that there are still war conflicts in other countries and a number of disasters that have occurred in Indonesia.
"We hope that the implementation of this year's Christmas worship will not be carried out in an excessive manner. There are still conflicts, wars, disasters that occur in various parts of the world that require very deep contemplative and empathy. Our worship and Christmas celebrations are invited to reflect the values and dignity of humanity and the environment in relation to the processes of humanization or destruction of humanity due to war, due to conflict, disasters that occur around us," said Pastor Manuputty as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 23.
PGI hopes that this year's Christmas celebration will run peacefully and with joy.
"Hopefully Christmas this year will take place in peace and peace. Christians can celebrate Christmas and hold Christmas services in peace and joy," saidtenuh Manuputty.
He said that in this 2024 Christmas celebration, all Christians were invited to reflect on the values and dignity of humanity and be more sensitive to the environment.
"So it's really Christmas worship which is the Christian contemplation for his call. Calls for solidarity in the environment itself and others," saidximan Manuputty.
He also asked Christians to always maintain harmony and respect diversity.
Regarding harmony, Pastor Total Manuputty added that the true meaning of Christmas is God's solidarity with humans, solidarity that is cross religious borders, cross ethnic borders, and other differences.
