Bassist Rage Against The Machine Reveals His Experience Of Prostate Cancer
JAKARTA - Bassist Rage Against The Machine, Tim Commerford spoke about his experience during prostate cancer for almost three years.
The 56-year-old musician said his journey to fight cancer was the most powerful time he had in his life.
"I'm 56 years old. I'm an artist, and I focus on that, and I'm proud of that," Tim Commerford said in a recent interview with TotalRock.
"I've always been very proud to be a fit person at an older age, because most people my age don't. That's the truth, and I feel very happy about it," he continued.
However, the bassist also clearly remembers how he 'destroyed' after knowing he had prostate cancer in 2022.
"It took a few years before I could discuss cancer without becoming emotional and crying because of it," he said.
One thing that makes him not need to cry continuously is his physique. Commerford felt stronger afterward.

He also hopes that his case can inspire those who are afraid to take action after suffering from the disease.
"I tell people, like, look, if your numbers, your PSA numbers, so-called numbers, if that number goes up, if your doctor says your PSA is going up a little bit, look for experts, go to the experts," said the bassist who is also a member of Audioslave.
At the time, look for someone who knows everything about prostate cancer and an expert in that. That's what I didn't do. And I found out through health insurance. I had to do a health insurance test, and they found it early."
According to him, the doctor who handles it, works well, by providing all the explanations that need to be known and appropriate action to take.
"If I consult a doctor earlier, they will do an MRI and see the location of the cancer, then I can remove it from the capsule, and my condition will be better," he concluded.
