Korlantas Polri Predicts Peak Homecoming For Christmas And New Year 2024 On 21, 24 And 28 December
JAKARTA - The Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the National Police stated that they had prepared several strategies in the 2024 Candle Operation to secure the flow of homecoming and return during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year (Nataru) holidays.
Dirgakkum Korlantas Polri Brigadier General Pol. Raden Slamet Santoso said, based on the results of the analysis, the peak of the homecoming flow is expected to occur on December 21, 24, and 28, 2024, while the peak of backflow is predicted to follow a few days later.
"For this reason, Korlantas focuses on the three main routes out of Jakarta, namely the Cikampek, Cipularang, and Jagorawi toll roads, as well as the Merak crossing route," he said in his statement in Jakarta, Monday, December 23, which was confiscated by Antara.
Brigadier General Pol. Slamet said that Korlantas had prepared several traffic engineering, including the implementation of a one way system on the Puncak route to Gadog and the application of contraflow on the Cikampek Toll Road at a point where the volume of the vehicle increased significantly.
The adjustment was made based on traffic counting installed on various arterial and toll routes.
"We continue to monitor arterial routes, including the Sukabumi route, which to date shows safe conditions with a vehicle volume of around 4,000 units per hour," he said.
In addition, he continued, Korlantas has prepared two functional toll roads in Klaten-Prambanan and Probolinggo to support smooth traffic. He ensured that the police would secure the route optimally until the evening.
He added that the toll exit arrangement has also been coordinated with the Yogyakarta DI Regional Police so that the distribution of vehicles in the surrounding area, including Gunung Kidul, runs smoothly.
Furthermore, the police will also implement a billing system on crossings to regulate vehicles in the event of a buildup at the dock.
"Intensive surveys have been carried out on various modes of transportation, including ships, trains, and aircraft. This step aims to ensure that every operational aspect goes according to plan," he said.

If a shortage is found, such as street lighting or a buildup of vehicles, coordination with related parties will immediately be carried out to be repaired quickly.
"We hope that with the cooperation of all parties, Operation Candle 2024 can be carried out safely, smoothly, and in accordance with the planned scheme," he concluded.
